GRE Cast Iron Straight edges are used for checking the straightness and flatness of parts in conjunction with the surface plates and spirit levels. These may be made of cast iron. C.I. straight edges are made up to 4 m length and widely used for testing machine tool slide ways. They are heavily ribbed either I section or bow-shaped to prevent distortion.
